What will be will be will be [broken record delivery] [2025]

I have been researching joy and happiness on earth this year.

I ordered this 1955 amazing song on the original brittle shellac 78rpm disc.

The record was posted to me in a card envelope, and arrived broken. I ordered another which arrived again shattered. Oh! Ffs! So i chucked pieces into my big bin in irritation. It only then dawned on me a minute later, that this is the perfect disc to get this automatic ‘physical remix’ - by chance, through the post. Proper 'Mail Art' in action. Visually powerful as an exploded artefact, whatever will be, will be - indeedy. Conceptually delighful to my mind. I went back to my big bin and excavated every fragment, and ordered more copies - as it shatters in unique and beautiful ways.

Next I was then excited to find out what the newly misaligned music grooves sound like, so I glued one back into shape like sonic Kintsugi, to play with as a 'performance film', my first attempt, which delighted me, not knowing what was going to happen in audio anticipation.

What does it sound like ??? >>> hear here in short film:

Thirty years ago, my first installation was a sound activated tape recorder sent through the post (“Recorded Delivery”), and 25yrs ago i created a ‘Physical Remix’ record series when experimenting with new ways of cutting sound to vinyl. Everything has again aligned beautifully here, conceptually, visually, sonically, happily. ‘Que Sera, Sera’ is how i have loved living my lucky life, and how my creative art actions evolve.. embracing serendipity etc etc etc.

“What will be will be will be” is an edition of 7 framed copies of this exploded disc fixed to glass in deep frames. Plus my original stuck back together 'playable' performance copy.

[If you enjoy this jump cut aesthetic, do look up the 90’s works of Martin Arnold. 150,000 hand printed film frames dancing back and forth through micro editing shuffle judders of visual and sonic delight.. ‘Alone (Time Wastes Andy Hardy)’ is an absolute audio/visual delight … i first saw his work at the Avanto Festival film screenings in Helsinki, 2001. Around that time I also learned about the 60's 70's work of Milan Knížák with his investigations into 'Broken Music' performing with modified vinyl etc, while i was adding my own original vinyl additions to the genre, Wow 7”, On/Off LP, and Skate/Rink LP my random playing record etc etc - along with my three arm Tri-Phonic Turntable 1997 :->]
